Tips#1: Read Together Every Day
Read to your child every day. Make this a warm and loving time when the two of you can cuddle close together. Bedtime is an especially great time for reading together.
Tips#2: Give Everything A Name
You can build comprehension skills early, even with the littlest child. Play games that involve naming or pointing to objects. Say things like, "Where's your nose?" and then, "Where's Mommy's nose?" Or touch your child's nose and say, "What's this?"

The curriculums of school are designed as per the standards of education department. Some schools hire people to design their books according to given curriculum while others get published books from the companies. The Company designed books may at times have problems. Due to their pre-designed framework, the teachers have to follow step by step pattern of their teachings. These books even have everyday planners, questionnaires, quizzes etc. Pre designed planners could restrict a teacher from giving her own teachings to the students. Actually what works in one class doesn't work in other. There are children with different understanding in one class and there are classes also which are different from other sections. Some classes could be fast as compared to others. So, pre-assigned curriculum becomes hindrance in teaching according to the development levels of the children.

In pre designed planners the numbers of periods are also assigned to every topic of the chapter, but it might take more time or less time depending on the class and the teacher taking the class. Motivation may vary from class to class. For example: a topic protein of chapter food and nutrition has been assigned two classes as per the planner. At times even though one more grace period is added still the teacher takes more than three periods for the topic, it makes the teacher go behind the other classes and so entire curriculum planning is disturbed.

Although the company designed planners are based on vast researches but scripted lessons interfere in teacher – student relationship. An English grammar exercise or math concept need more explanations and practice at times. A specialized teacher of math might want to train the students more by giving variety of examples and practice but due to restrained planner she is unable to do so.

Tips#3: Say How Much You Enjoy Reading Together
Tell your child how much you enjoy reading with him or her. Look forward to this time you spend together. Talk about "story time" as the favorite part of your day.
Tips#4: Be Interactive
Engage your child so he or she will actively listen to a story. Discuss what's happening, point out things on the page, and answer your child's questions. Ask questions of your own and listen to your child's responses.

There are schools which may be different in intelligence altogether. For instance a school in a small city is following same vendor's books and planners as one in metro city. Both would have difference in their teaching styles and patterns.

The book's framework gives step by step understanding of the topic and teaches how it should be actually taught in the class. It may be good to guide the teacher but it doesn't mean that any teacher who reads and follows the framework can teach students according to it. The teachers are specialized in their fields and so when they teach about a topic they have flair of going beyond at times to make the students understand. Then how would specialized teacher you think can be refrained and so not everybody or anybody can do the part that she is doing.

Unit plan designed by the teacher herself would be a better idea. The teacher very well knows about the children she is teaching, so she is the right person to design her own unit plan. She is also well aware about the curriculum, syllabus and examination. She can catch up the speed or teach according to the concepts importance within stipulated time based on her own designed planner.

The teacher should be aware or trained well about the standards, objectives and guidelines of the subject. She should also be educated about the teaching – learning strategies and the tasks or the activities that meet the needs of diverse learners – advanced learners or slow learners. She should have thorough knowledge about the assessments and the skills that are developed through teachings and assessments.

A well qualified and experienced teacher can design the curriculum and unit plans more appropriately than those designed by the book companies.

Tips#5: Read It Again And Again And Again
Your child will probably want to hear a favorite story over and over. Go ahead and read the same book for the 100th time! Research suggests that repeated readings help children develop language skills.
Tips#6: Talk About Writing, Too
Draw your child's attention to the way writing works. When looking at a book together, point out how we read from left to right and how words are separated by spaces.
